Orchestral Works

While he has written relatively few works for orchestra, it is one of Zach's favorite ensembles to compose for. Be sure to check back on this list, as even now, there are several works in progress for large ensembles!

Symphony No. 1: Musica in Finem Mundi (2020)

For 2222 22, timpani, and strings. About 30 minutes, in four movements. Explores polystylism as a means of musical expression. Movements based off of the four classical elements and present a narrative of a world being destroyed by climate change.

Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra (2019)

For solo double bass, 2222 422, timpani, and strings. About 23 minutes, in three movements. Technically demanding bass solo part. A rather humorous piece, overall.
