Choral/Vocal Works
While his catalogue of choral and vocal music remains rather limited, Zach has lately become fascinated by vocal music, so there is certain to be more on the way!
Wenn die Blätter treiben (2022)
For mezzo-soprano and piano. About 6 minutes, in three songs. Chilly and expressive song cycle with heavy use of dissonance. German texts by poets Heinrich Heine, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Berthold Brecht.

Games Between Reality, Shadow (2021)
For SSAT. About 3 minutes, in three songs. Settings of very short texts about art in French, Spanish, and German. The music is quite fluid. Each of the three settings has its own identifying texture.

In the End, All Was Ash (2020)
For vocalist and fixed electronics. About 5 minutes. Dark and chaotic work. Notated music utilizes graphic elements in the score.

Landscape No. 1 (2019)
For SSAA. About 6 minutes. Very bleak, somber music. No text. Instead, vocalists sing an open vowel sound falling somewhere on a spectrum between "ah" and "oh" to create a constantly fluctuating timbre.
